Voice of the voiceless

How often do we stop to look around, to listen? Listen to the voice of the voiceless. Can we count the number of times we've felt compassionate, empathy in a day? Are we too stuck up chasing behind the so-called success, dreams but let our humaneness deteriorate.

Look, Listen to the voice of the voiceless animals on the streets. The old ones, the sick ones, the abandon ones, the one that is struggling to keep it's litter alive.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has estimated around 35 million stray dogs in India. In Urban areas, these stray are mostly abandoned pets which later on populates without proper sterilization. It is heart-wrenching to see pets being abandoned by their owners for petty reasons such as old age which becomes a burden for the pet owners to take care of their once beloved pet or owners who no longer find their pet as cute as it used to be or owners who gets a new pedigree breed dogs which are projected to be more appealing and intelligent than the native breeds.

With the population native breeds of pets and domestics animals are declining at an alarming rate some activists are spreading awareness and fight to give these destitute and forlorn animals a voice and lawful protection.

The question here is what and how can each one of us, as an individual, contribute in helping these lives whom we walk among together in this planet - Stricter law, educating people on caretaking; all this comes secondary to empathy and compassion. Every Individual should have a strong ecological awareness and must volunteer to take in at least one stray and provide them with proper care and love.

I believe all human beings are born to be compassionate. The next time you come across a stray near your neighborhood extend a helping arm to reach out to those lives whom surprisingly might turn around our lives for the better good.
